2026 / 2027 SEASON

We are maintaining our link with Sinfonia Cymru. This is a Welsh organisation which brings performance opportunities to younger professional players and takes music to different communities across Wales.

A feature of Sinfonia Cymru programming is that the musicians curate their own programme.

Saturday 21st November at 3pm in St Peters Church, Lampeter

VRi Chamber folk Trio

Two-time winners of Best Album at the Welsh Folk Award (debut album Tŷ Ein Tadau (2019) and 2022’s islais a genir),

VRï are Jordan Price Williams (cello, voice), Aneirin Jones (violin, voice) and Patrick Rimes (viola, violin, voice).

Inspired by the incredible story of a time when Wales’ traditional music and dance was suppressed by Methodist chapels, and, earlier, its language by the Act of Union, VRï shed new light on a vibrant folk tradition that harnesses the raw energy of the fiddle with the finesse of the violin, and the beauty of chamber music with the joy and hedonism of a pub session, all underpinned with powerful vocal harmonies.

Michael Sheen “Vri is where Welsh craft and heart meet.”

Stephen Fry ‘Beautiful Music’

Dave Haslam, RnR Magazine ‘VRï’s distinctive approach is a thing of wonder… positively spine-tingling

Alan Tigay, World Listening Post ‘Like a roller coaster through time, VRï rises high by mining deep’,

Anja S Beinroth, Folk London ‘ unique, lovingly connecting with and reviving a lost heritage for a new generation.’

Nathaniel Handy, SONGLINES ‘A primal roar of Welshness‘

Andrew Cronshaw, RootsWorld ‘is a landmark in Welsh Music’

Rick Anderson, CD Hotlist  ‘a truly unique — and utterly gorgeous — sound.’ blends the energy of folk fiddling with the decorousness of classical technique without sacrificing the best of either tradition — and harmonizes vocally like angels’

Holly Moors, Moors Magazine (Belgium) ‘a breathtakingly beautiful album’
