Aquilae Duo was formed in 2008 when Eleanor and Lisa first performed the Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto together. When Mozart wrote his Concerto for Flute and Harp, the combination of flute and harp together was incredibly unusual.
Nowadays, there is a rich repertoire of flute and harp duets from which Aquilae Duo have chosen a selection that shows off their technical artistry, emotional range and a wide span of music throughout the history of Western classical music. The programme represents a gradual awakening and a voyage through time and place, culminating in the joyous and sunny Sonata by Nino Rota.

Aquilae Duo is honoured to have the world premiere performance of Mared Emlyn’s new Flute and Harp Sonata in four movements for this very special concert.Lisa Nelsen is internationally recognised for her versatility as a flute soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, educator and ensemble coach, and mentor in performance practices.

Lisa and Eleanor both made their London debuts at the South Bank Centre and have performed extensively as soloists on an international platform. Lisa is a highly respected and in demand educator, having given masterclasses in Norway, Finland, Sweden, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, Hong Kong, Canada and the USA as well as in England.

Lisa is proud to represent Yamaha flutes and Eleanor is a Salvi Harps artist. Having grown up on a pig farm in Western Canada with professional singers for parents, Lisa is enjoying a life of music, travels and great people!

Eleanor Turner enjoys a busy career performing internationally, which includes concerto performances from America to Australia, performing sound spatialised ‘computer music’ in Shanghai, composing and recording for Naxos, Decca and Champs Hill Records. Eleanor is a composer and producer as well as being a harpist and enjoys cross genre collaborations with musicians from different hemispheres, visual artists such as Lucy Cade and dancers, for example Sonny Nwachukwu.
